Acorn Health and Wellness Programs
Hidden away in this part of our site is the essence of what we do!
Click on the links below to find out much more about:
Healthy HabitsSeveral projects emphasizing the health and well-being of children aged 0-5 and their families. Programs include training for
teens to be effective babysitters, cooking classes for young people and new parents,
The Rocking Chair Project and training for other agencies
in identifying 'at-risk' children, and production and mailing of Acorn's newsletter
to promote these programs throughout the service area.
The Rocking Chair Project - Doulas, women who care
for mothers and their newborn children, provide rocking chairs, breastfeeding
advice, emotional support and help around the home. The benefit to mother and
child are profound, especially the ability to have quality time for mom to
nurture and bond with her baby in a supportive environment.
Intermountain Trail System - Mapping potential trails
through our region to connect communities and other trails such as the PCT is part
of a newer ambition being undertaken by Gary "The Trail Guy" Desselle, who is visiting
Acorn under The Environmental Careers Association fellowship.
